Today’s shot is a photo of a computer 2GB memory chip, which arrived yesterday as a replacement for one which failed a while ago in my main PC. I thought I’d grab a shot of it before putting it in the PC (it’s now fitted).
The Canon MP-E f2.8 65mm macro lens is a truly specialised macro lens. Most consumer macro lenses have the ability to recreate images which are life size on the sensor. This is usually expressed as a magnification factor of 1x.
The MP-E 65 has a reproduction factor of 5x so an insect would appear five times larger on the sensor than it is in real life. It is the only mainstream lens to go up to this magnification factor.
The above shot was tripod mounted, 5 second exposure at f16. unfortunately, I left the ISO at 2500 from a previous setup but it hasn’t come out too bad.
