Did it!
We had a family outing to Southwold on the Suffolk coast.
I’ve been here a few times in the past but never been up to the pier.
I saw an old fellar apparently writing on the rail which goes around the pier. I watched him for a while wondering why he’d be writing on the rail.
After a while I went over to see what he was doing and realised he wasn’t writing, he was cleaning out the lettering on a memorial plaque, it was presumably to his wife who had died.
The plaques go right around the pier.
